The chemical n-Hexane is an organic compound, also known by other names such as: 1-Hexanol, 1-Hydroxyhexane, Hexyl alcohol or Amyl Carbinol, but they all have the same molecular formula C₆H₁₄ with 6 carbon atoms combined with 14 water molecules by a straight-chain alkane.
The compound exists in a liquid, volatile, non-polar state, when purified C₆H₁₄ is odorless, colorless and has a boiling point of about 69°C corresponding to 156°F. It is the main and important ingredient in gasoline production because it is a relatively safe substance and a cheap solvent.

Application:
- N-Hexane is used as a solvent for extracting vegetable oils such as soybean oil, linseed oil, peanut oil and sunflower oil, and as a solvent for extracting Artemisia vulgaris leaves. It is used as a detergent in the textile, interior decoration, shoe manufacturing, and printing industries, especially in rotary printing.
Widely used in laboratories, research centers, manufacturing facilities, factories, etc.
